Originally I had doodled some really organic and jelly fish-like ships, but portraying it in a literal sense ended up not being the direction I wanted to take it in. I started thinking of a design brief for myself that would help me try something a little more outside of the obvious and I concluded on this direction.

A mechanical and alien like world, where salvaging and utilizing other foreign planets natural energy resources has become its last ditch effort for survival. Expanding to the outer most reaches of their known galaxy they have come across elements and types of organic matter that their world just could not comprehend. With manufacturing on halt on their homeworld, due to lack of once abundant resources, they have learned to cultivate other more organic sources of energy..........well mostly. Being so use to the more mechanical (geometric) shapes of the once fully understood universe of times before, they had not been prepared for the organic offerings from the great abyss of undocumented space.

This scene depicts a sort of space freighter, originally developed for hauling more structural elements, but as you can see its struggling with handling the almost living blobs of energy they have come to find useful for survival of their planet. So other little ships are helping keep the blob at bay and on track for delivery.
